Board of Education

Rockland BOCES is governed by a policy-making board of education comprised of members from its eight component districts’ boards. Rockland BOCES Board members serve unpaid, three-year terms and are elected by component boards of education as part of the April BOCES administrative budget vote.

Meet the Board

The eight component school districts are each represented on the Rockland BOCES Board of Education. Rockland BOCES Board members are nominated by their respective Boards and elected to three-year, unpaid terms by the component districts.

Sandi JeanetteSandi Jeanette, President
representing Ramapo Central

Term ends: 6/30/16

Mrs. Jeanette has been a member of the BOCES Board of Education since 2007. Currently a community health coordinator at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Mrs. Jeanette previously served for 21 years as county director for the American Heart Association. She is a former member of the Ramapo Central Board of Education and is actively involved with a number of local organizations that promote health and wellness.

Peggy Zugibe, Vice-PresidentPeggy Zugibe
Member-At-Large

Term ends: 6/30/17

Mrs. Zugibe has been a member of the BOCES Board of Education since 2008. She has been a member of the Haverstraw-Stony Point Board of Education since 1993 and is treasurer of the Rockland County School Boards Association.
She also serves as the Area 10 director of the New York State
School Boards Association, representing boards in Rockland, Westchester and Putnam counties. She is the longtime chair of the steering committee of the Hudson-Long Island Coalition for Responsible State Funding of Education, a board member of the United Way of Rockland County, and a member of the joint policy committee of the Lower-Hudson Education Coalition and the
Mid-Hudson School Study Council.

Robert DavisRobert Davis

Term ends 6/30/15

Mr. Davis joined the BOCES Board of Education in 2012. He has been a member of the Pearl River Board of Education since 2003 and has served as its president.  Mr. Davis is the director of quality
control laboratory operations at Pfizer in Pearl River and is an active
community member.

David GrammerstorfDavid Grammerstorf
representing Haverstraw-Stony Point

Term ends: 6/30/17

Mr. Grammerstorf has been a member of the BOCES Board of Education since 1999. He is a former president of the Haverstraw-Stony Point Board of Education and is President of the Rockland County School Boards Association. He has been a teacher, guidance counselor and principal for the Closter, NJ Board of Education, and served as the district’s schools-to-careers coordinator. He is active in many community and civic organizations.

Harry GrossmanHarry Grossman
representing East Ramapo

Term ends: 6/30/16

Mr. Grossman was appointed to the BOCES Board of Education in 2013 to represent the East Ramapo Central School District, where he is vice president of the Board of Education. He is an IT operations management consultant and has worked for the Empire State Development Corporation and The Jewish Museum. Mr. Grossman is involved with numerous community organizations.

Ronald HansenRonald Hansen
representing Nanuet

Term ends: 6/30/15

Mr. Hansen has been a member of the BOCES Board of Education since 2006 and is President of the Nanuet Board of Education.
He is the director of fiscal operations for the county Department of Health, and is active in community organizations, including the
Pearl River Fire Department, the Boy Scouts of America and the
Rockland County Worksite Daycare.

Joseph MalgieriJoe Malgieri
representing Clarkstown

Term ends: 6/30/16

Mr. Malgieri was appointed to the BOCES Board of Education in
2013 to represent the Clarkstown Central School District, where
he is a current Board member and past Board president. He taught
in Clarkstown schools for 33 years and served as chairman of the
technology department. Mr. Malgieri is a member and past president of the
West Nyack Rotary Club.

Michael MarkMichael Mark
representing Nyack

Term ends: 6/30/17

Mr. Mark has been a member of the BOCES Board of Education since 2011. He is Vice President of the Nyack Board of Education and is currently serving his sixth term. Mr. Mark is a professional musician
and a trustee on the Valley Cottage Library Board.

Rosemary PitruzzellaRosemary Pitruzzella
representing South Orangetown

Term ends: 6/30/15

Mrs. Pitruzzella has been a member of the BOCES Board of Education since 2009. She has served on the South Orangetown Board of Education since 2004 and is a past Board president. She has been an active PTA leader in the district and has more than a decade of managerial experience in the private and public sectors.
